Frequently Asked Questions | Boujie Candle Company

We get a lot of great questions from our candle-loving community, and we love answering every single one. Below you'll find the answers to the things people ask us most often, from what goes into our candles to how to get the best burn out of every jar.

What makes Boujie Candle Company different from other candle brands?

We're a family-run business based in Milford, PA, nestled in the beautiful Pocono Mountains. Every candle we make is hand-poured in small batches using 100% natural soy wax and carefully crafted fragrance blends. Our goal is to bring you high-end quality at an accessible price point, so you can enjoy a little luxury every day without the designer price tag.

What kind of wax do you use, and why does it matter?

We use 100% natural soy wax, which is plant-based, renewable, and biodegradable. Soy wax burns at a lower temperature than paraffin, giving you a slower, more even burn and a longer candle life. It also produces up to 90% less soot than paraffin, so your home stays cleaner and the air quality stays better. When you see "soy" on some labels, it can mean as little as 51% soy blended with other waxes; ours is the real deal, 100% pure soy.

Are your candles vegan and cruelty-free?

Absolutely. Our candles contain zero animal-derived ingredients, no beeswax, no animal-based stearic acid, nothing of the sort. We never test on animals at any stage of production. From wax to wick to fragrance, everything is vegan-friendly and cruelty-free.

Are your candles non-toxic and safe to burn at home?

Yes. We use 100% natural soy wax, phthalate-free fragrance oils, and lead-free cotton wicks. These three factors, wax, fragrance, and wick, are what determine a candle's safety profile, and we've made sure each one meets the highest standards. As with any candle, always burn on a heat-safe surface, keep away from drafts, and never leave a lit candle unattended.

I have a soy allergy. Is it safe for me to use soy wax candles?

Soy allergies are triggered by specific proteins found in soybeans, not by the oil itself. Soy wax is made from soybean oil and does not contain those proteins, so it is generally considered safe even for people with soy sensitivities. That said, if you have a severe allergy, we always recommend checking with your doctor first.

How do I get the best burn out of my Boujie candle?

The most important step is trimming your wick to about 1/4 inch before every single burn. This one habit can add 10 to 15% more total burn time and keeps the flame clean and steady. On your very first burn, let the wax melt all the way to the edges of the jar. This sets the candle's "memory" and prevents tunneling on future burns. When about 1/2 inch of wax remains, it's time to retire the candle per standard safety guidelines.

How long will my candle burn?

Burn time depends on the size of the candle. As a general guide, each ounce of soy wax burns for roughly 7 to 9 hours, and soy candles last 35 to 50% longer than paraffin alternatives. With proper wick trimming and full melt pools, you'll get the maximum life out of every jar.

Do you offer free shipping?

We do! Orders of $100 or more ship free within the United States. For orders under that amount, shipping costs are calculated at checkout based on your location and the weight of your package.

Do your candles make good gifts?

Candles are one of the most popular gift items out there, and ours are designed with gifting in mind. The elegant packaging, unique fragrance blends, and affordable luxury feel make them perfect for birthdays, anniversaries, housewarmings, or any time you want to give something thoughtful and beautiful. Many of our customers tell us they keep one for themselves and give one away.
