The craft

What makes a wood wick worth it.

  • 01

    A crackle, not a hiss

Wood wicks burn with a low, wide flame and a soft fireplace crackle. They also throw scent more evenly across a 14 oz melt pool than a single cotton wick.

  • 02

    100% soy, poured by hand

Renewable, biodegradable soy wax that burns cooler and slower than paraffin, with up to 90% less soot. No phthalates, no parabens, nothing animal-derived.

  • 03

    Small batches in Milford, PA

Every candle is poured, labeled and packed by our family in the foothills of the Pocono Mountains, and ships within one business day.

The Boujie Candle Company family — parents and son — in a sunlit field in Milford, Pennsylvania

Our story

A family, a kitchen table, and a very particular nose.

Boujie Candle Company started with a love of candles and a frustration with their price tags. We pour every candle ourselves — parents and son — in Milford, Pennsylvania, and we test every blend in our own home before it goes in a box.

We hope our candles fill your home with as much love as they have filled ours while making them.

Bougie
Boujie.

Yes, we spelled it that way on purpose

Bougie candles, boujee candles, bouji candles — they all lead here.

Our name is a play on "bougie" (a little fancy) and the French word for candle. However you spell it, you're looking for a candle that feels expensive and isn't. That's the whole idea.

Beyond the candle

The same scent, without the flame.

Every Boujie blend also comes as a 6 fl oz reed diffuser that lasts four to six months, and as a hanging car diffuser for $22. Match your candle for the same scent by day and by night.

Questions

Before you light up.

What makes Boujie Candle Company different from other candle brands?

We're a family-run business based in Milford, PA, nestled in the beautiful Pocono Mountains. Every candle we make is hand-poured in small batches using 100% natural soy wax and carefully crafted fragrance blends. Our goal is to bring you high-end quality at an accessible price point, so you can enjoy a little luxury every day without the designer price tag.

What kind of wax do you use, and why does it matter?

We use 100% natural soy wax, which is plant-based, renewable, and biodegradable. Soy wax burns at a lower temperature than paraffin, giving you a slower, more even burn and a longer candle life. It also produces up to 90% less soot than paraffin, so your home stays cleaner and the air quality stays better. When you see "soy" on some labels, it can mean as little as 51% soy blended with other waxes; ours is the real deal, 100% pure soy.

How long will my candle burn?

Every Boujie candle is a 14 ounce wood wick soy candle with a burn time of up to 80 hours. Soy wax burns slower and cooler than paraffin, and the wood wick spreads the melt pool evenly across the glass. Trim the wick before each burn, let the first burn reach the edges of the vessel and keep burns under four hours to get the full life out of every jar.

Do you offer free shipping?

We do. US orders over $50 ship free, so any two candles qualify. Orders under $50 ship for a flat $5 within the United States.

Is it Boujie, bougie or bouji?

Boujie, with a J. Our name is a play on "bougie" (slang for bourgeois, a little fancy) and on the French word for candle. People find us by searching bougie candles, boujee candles, bouji candles, boojie, boogie candles and boujee candle company, and every one of those spellings gets you here. You can read the whole story on our bougie vs. Boujie page.
